Record of the Week

Stefan Braatz & Virgo Four - Everyman Jack

Sometimes you find a great tune in the most unexpected of places and this one was right there in the carousel at the top of the Beatport homepage!

Old skool vibes on this one, with the feel of an early Acid House tune, a constant, catchy bass line paired with a soulful vocal and pads. These two underground heros deliver an absolute killer on this one.

Classic of the Week

Bicep - Silk

From 2011, this is one of Bicep’s early releases. The bass line has a bit of a Mr. Fingers vibe for me, with a similar feel to Can You Feel It, with a chorus effect characteristic of the Roland Juno-6.

One More

NIGHTWAVE - Unconditional

This is the standout for me of NIGHTWAVE’s Power Plants EP released on Scuba’s Hotflush back in 2020. The tune starts with some emotive strings before the beat kicks in, which makes this one of my favourite set openers.
